SUNDAY SCHOOL MAINTENANCE
A well organized Sunday School class requires regular maintenance just like a smooth running car. Here are some routine maintenance items every class should perform every quarter:
Is the average weekly attendance better or worse than the same period last year?
A healthy class should average 60% of its members attending every week. No class member should miss two consecutive weeks without a contact from the class. Are your care groups functioning properly?
Does the class have any prospects?
Reaching the lost is best done through Sunday School. Every class should be inviting new people to their class. This should be a priority for every class.
Are you having class fellowships on a regular basis?
Fellowships are the most effective way to get new people to come to your class. Get them to a party first. Most unchurched people will come to a party. Every class should have at least nine fellowships annually.
Are you developing future leaders?
Does your class give others opportunities to teach a lesson from time to time? Investing in the lives of your members pays eternal dividends. Set a class goal of doubling every two years. The number of lives you impact will astound you, but even better bring glory to Christ.
